Simon Pearce will be performing movements from Platero Y Yo (Platero and I), a witty and charming suite by the Spanish composer and guitarist Eduardo Sainz De La Maza. Written in 1968, the suite is inspired by a set of poems that Nobel Prize-winning author Juan Ramón Jiménez wrote about a donkey, and his home region of Andalusia. The poems are to be read over the performance of this Andalusian-inspired music. Ann Crisp will be our reader.
